At ISNS, our counselling team plays a vital role in supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and understood throughout their learning journey.
The team provides individual counselling, classroom guidance, and ongoing support for students across all grade levels. Whether it’s managing stress, developing friendships, or navigating personal challenges, our counsellors are always there to listen, guide, and empower students to reach their potential.
Support ISNS Families
Through the Journey
Throughout the school year, our counsellors host interactive workshops on topics such as emotional regulation, healthy communication, and building resilience — equipping both students and parents with practical strategies for real-life situations. They also organize informal Coffee Chats for parents and caregivers, offering a relaxed setting to discuss common challenges, share experiences, and learn ways to support children’s growth at home.
To make guidance more accessible, the team also produces bilingual counselling videos, allowing families to revisit important topics anytime, anywhere. These videos cover age-appropriate themes related to mental health, emotional well-being, and success strategies — helping students and parents strengthen their understanding together.
Anne Zhu
Lower PYP School Counsellor (K2-G2)
Anne’s background in Early Childhood Studies and Applied Psychology enables her to provide early intervention for young students facing social and emotional challenges. Trained in child play therapy, Anne focuses on helping students through play, which encourages emotional growth and development. For Anne, the most rewarding aspect of her work is building trust with students and supporting their journey toward improved social interactions.
Nana Xu
Upper PYP School Counsellor (G3-5)
Nana Xu completed her Master’s degree in School Counseling at New York University with global experiences, including a study abroad program on Autism. Her professional journey includes counseling internships at P.S. 130 Hernando De Soto and Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in New York City, where she has provided individual and group counseling, delivered SEL lessons, facilitated post-secondary planning workshops, and supported families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Sophie Zhu
Middle/High School Counselor
(G6-8, G11-12)
Sophie is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with a Master’s in Social Work, specializing in mental health for children and adolescents. Passionate about supporting students during crucial developmental years, Sophie excels at creating a safe space for students to express themselves. Her specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and child protection ensures she offers top-notch care. Sophie finds joy in witnessing students' growth and resilience, helping them navigate interpersonal relationships and intense emotions.
Mary Ann Godkin
High School
Counselor(G9-10)
With degrees in Psychology, Education, and Counselling Psychology, Mary Ann is committed to holistic student development. She’s passionate about providing foundational support to help students manage their social, emotional, and mental health challenges. A believer in ongoing professional development, Mary Ann is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness practices, which she uses to help students overcome anxiety and achieve personal growth.

为让更多家庭能够灵活获取心理支持,咨询团队还制作了中英文双语心理辅导视频,内容涵盖心理健康、情绪调节及成长策略等主题,适合不同年龄段的学生与家长随时观看、共同学习。
Anne Zhu
小学低年级心理咨询老师 (K2-G2)
Anne拥有幼儿教育与应用心理学背景,专注于为面对社会和情感挑战的幼儿提供早期干预。Anne接受过儿童游戏疗法的培训,通过游戏帮助学生促进情感成长与发展。对于Anne来说,工作中最有意义的部分是与学生建立信任,并支持他们改善社交互动的旅程。
