Beyond the Classroom: Athletics & Activities at SIS

At Shekou International School, athletics and co-curricular activities form a cornerstone of our holistic educational philosophy, fostering well-rounded development in every student.

In the first trimester alone, Secondary students chose from 38 CCAs, while Primary students enjoyed 77 activities across eight strands:

Student-led initiatives such as TEDx, the Gecko Student Ambassadors, and student-run clubs empower learners to lead, collaborate, and share their passions with the community.

This structure ensures that every “Gecko” can find something that sparks their interest, builds skills, and boosts confidence. “Our goal with the activities program at SIS is to give every student an opportunity to be involved,” says Thomas.

Gecko Competitive Sports

Our athletics program is equally dynamic, with competitive sports such as soccer, basketball, and golf providing students with opportunities to challenge themselves, demonstrate sportsmanship, and represent SIS. Highlights this year include hosting major interschool tournaments such as the SDRC Basketball Event and the ACAMIS Golf Invitational in Haikou.
