SIS HoS News - August 8th, 2025

Dear SIS Community,

The first days of a new school year are filled with emotions and energy. I was really pleased to see the smooth beginning to the year in each campus, and equally inspired by the feeling of happiness to be in our community. I'd like to make a special mention of the 100 new students and their families who are beginning their Gecko journey. Welcome!

亲爱的SIS社区成员：

新学年拉开帷幕，总是满载着缤纷的情感与蓬勃的活力。我欣喜地看到，各个校区都平稳有序地开启了新篇章，同样也被我们社区洋溢的幸福氛围所感染。在此，我想特别欢迎那100名新同学及其家人，他们正踏上在SIS的崭新Gecko旅程。热烈欢迎你们的到来！

The first days of the school year are quite busy. Establishing routines and relationships helps all students to be prepared for learning content in the following days. Defining routines and common agreements are important for safety and security and help students to be comfortable in their new spaces. This is the case for learners of all ages. Our teachers and support staff are expert at creating safe and welcoming learning environments. This is what helps students to be comfortable enough to take risks in their learning. 

Being safe and comfortable is one half of the equation. The other piece is the opportunity to be challenged. It was great to see that so many opportunities were presented to students in the first days. Co-Curricular means that the activity extends and aligns with our regular curriculum. I was thrilled to see the excitement shown by students for our sports teams, music groups, special clubs, leadership options and our commitment to service. The richness of our curriculum and our co-curricular activities really does develop the whole child.

I look forward to enjoying with you all the richness of the SIS curriculum and co-curricular activities in the coming weeks.

学年初的几天总是格外忙碌。建立日常规范和人际关系，有助于所有学生为接下来几天的学习内容做好准备。明确日常规范和共同约定，对于保障学生的安全至关重要，也能帮助学生在新环境中感到自在舒适。这一点对所有年龄段的学习者都同样适用。我们的教师和后勤工作人员都是营造安全、温馨学习环境的专家。正是这样的环境，让学生们能够安心地在学习中勇于尝试、敢于冒险。

然而，安全与舒适仅仅是成功旅程的起点，另一半关键则在于迎接挑战的机遇。我欣喜地发现，开学伊始，学生们便拥有了众多锻炼与成长的机会。课后活动（CCA），作为我们常规课程的有机延伸与拓展。看到学生们对我们的运动队、音乐团体、特色社团、领导力培养项目以及我们矢志不渝的社会服务承诺所展现出的浓厚兴趣与高涨热情，我深感振奋与鼓舞。我们丰富多元的课程设置与课外辅助活动，正促进着学生的全面发展与成长。

展望未来几周，我满怀期待，愿与大家一同沉浸于SIS丰富多彩的课程与课外辅助活动的无尽魅力之中。
