In October, 13 students from SUIS Pudong showcased exceptional innovation and teamwork at Hackathon 2025, hosted by Wellington College Shanghai. The two-day competition brought together nearly 200 students from ten international schools across the city, offering a vibrant platform for young innovators to tackle real-world challenges through creativity and collaboration.

Working in teams of four, students selected their preferred challenges, attended focused workshops, and developed solutions that combined design thinking, coding, and engineering. The 12-hour innovation sprint on Saturday tested their perseverance, while Sunday’s presentations highlighted their technical depth and creative problem-solving.
Participants had access to a wide range of tools and resources, including printers, 3D printers, internet research platforms, interactive software, CAD design tools, and coding environments. Some students even developed their own mobile applications and used CAD software to design models for 3D printing—demonstrating impressive technical proficiency and creativity.
SUIS Pudong students impressed judges across multiple categories:
Runners-up in the Drone Category — Both Senior and Junior category
Runner-up in the Senior Sustainable Challenge
Winners in the Senior Category – “Smarter Car Interaction” challenge (Yuki Chu, Grade 9)
Winner in a cross-school team – Jonas Bach
All SUIS participants received awards for their creativity, teamwork, and contribution. Their success reflects the school’s commitment to cultivating collaboration, critical thinking, and technological fluency—essential 21st-century skills that empower students to lead with curiosity and confidence.
Hackathon 2025 was more than a competition—it was a celebration of imagination, innovation, and the power of teamwork. SUIS Pudong is immensely proud of all participants and will continue to support their journeys as future innovators and changemakers.
Congratulations to all our students—you’ve made SUIS Pudong proud!
We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Strydom, Mr. Febris, and Mr. Ochora for their dedication and support. Behind every great team are teachers who guide, inspire, and believe in their students.
