This year, our school proudly presented its first musical theatre production, The Lightning Thief: Young Audiences Edition. After months of hard work, our talented grade 9 and 10 students amazed everyone with a performance that brought the story to life.
随着舞台灯光缓缓亮起,师生和家长们共同迎来了令人难忘的夜晚——爱莎科学城首部完全由学生主导的音乐剧《波西·杰克逊与神火之盗》(青少年版)成功首演!从剧本甄选到舞台演出,从道具制作到服装设计,从灯光调控到音效配合……每一个环节都凝聚着九、十年级学生们的智慧与汗水。这群年轻的艺术家们,经过数月的精心筹备和刻苦排练,最终将这个奇幻神话世界精彩呈现在观众眼前,赢得了阵阵掌声与喝彩。

The journey began in our Broadway Bound class, where students explored different musicals. They started the year with a project where they researched shows and presented their ideas to a panel of producers.
这场演出的故事,其实早在日常课堂上就已悄然启程。在“奔向百老汇”(Broadway Bound)课程中,学生们深入探索不同风格的音乐剧,并展开了一项独立研究项目:每位同学挑选自己喜爱的剧目,围绕其背景、结构、风格进行分析,并向由“制作人”组成的评审团展示个人构想。

After much discussion, The Lightning Thief was chosen, and excitement filled the air.
经过一番热烈讨论与精彩展示,最终,《波西·杰克逊与神火之盗》凭借其丰富的想象力和叙事张力,赢得了大家的一致青睐。

The students then held auditions to show off their talents. Every student had a chance to shine, and the final cast came together, reflecting the energy and spirit of the story.
随后的试镜现场成为了才艺绽放的舞台,每位同学都在镜头前发光发热,展现出个性与潜能。最终确定的演员阵容充满想象力与表现力,完美演绎出这个充满神话色彩的冒险故事。

Next, our students moved into the Musical Theatre Production unit. Here, they worked in pairs to direct different parts of the show. This experience allowed them to make creative choices and learn how to work together as a team.
与此同时,学生们也步入了“音乐剧制作”单元的深度实践。他们以小组形式分别执导剧中的不同片段,自主探索舞台语言、动作编排与情感表达。这种高度参与式的学习体验,不仅激发了学生的创意潜力,更培养了他们在协作与领导中不可或缺的沟通与决策能力。

Meanwhile, the Behind the Drape class focused on technical roles like Lighting, Set, and Costume design. They learned how to create these elements and submitted their own production proposals. This team was responsible for building and painting the sets, creating costumes and props, and designing the lighting that set the mood for the show.
而在另一侧的“幕后魔法”课堂上,同学们则化身为“造梦工程师”。从舞美设计到灯光布景,从戏服制作到道具打造,成员们不仅提交了专业方案,更亲手将灵感转化为现实。



They were also the running crew for the production, working as a team backstage to create seamless transitions from one scene to another and bring the world of the play to life.
他们也是演出当天的“隐形守护者”,在台下默契配合、精准执行,确保每一次场景转换都流畅自然,为台上演员提供了坚实支撑。
What made this production special was that it was entirely student-led.
这部音乐剧的最大亮点,正是在于它真正做到了“由学生主导”。



From planning to performance, students chose their own paths and collaborated closely. This teamwork created a strong sense of community in our school.
从选剧到选角,从排练到首演,学生们以主人翁的姿态深度参与各个环节,彼此信任、团结协作,建立起强烈的归属感与成就感。这不仅是一次艺术实践,更是一次跨学科、跨领域的全人教育体验。


When the performances finally took place, each student shone in their role. The colorful sets, beautiful costumes, and creative lighting made the audience feel like they were part of Percy Jackson's world.
当灯光亮起,舞台上每位学生都在自己的岗位上发光发热。色彩斑斓的布景、匠心独运的服装和极具张力的灯光,共同营造出一个令人沉浸的“神界冒险”,仿佛将观众也带入了波西的奇幻旅程。



The success of The Lightning Thief shows the hard work and creativity of our students. They not only learned about theatre but also gained important skills in working together, communicating, and leading.
这场演出不仅是一部精彩的剧作,更是学生们成长的缩影。他们在创作中不断挑战、反思与提升,在合作中学会倾听、沟通与引领,从课堂走向现实世界,真正践行了“探究、成就、践行”的教育愿景。每一次排练的汗水、每一次磨合的坚持,最终都化作聚光灯下最动人的光芒。


As we celebrate this amazing achievement, we look forward to more productions that inspire our students. This is just the beginning of our school’s artistic journey.
